The problem isn’t your aged heating system it's the air inside it - rejuvenate your existing boiler with Airgon

Airgon helps you reduce the cost of heating by ensuring that your boiler and heating system work at their optimum. Airgon continuously removes air and entrained gasses that form cold spots in radiators and corrosion (magnetite) that causes breakdowns.

Water contains dissolved air which is usually only visible when it is heated. When you boil a kettle or a pan bubbles form as the temperature rises and this air is released.

This same process is happening inside your heating system every time you turn it on. The air collects in pockets inside your radiators causing cold spots which wastes energy.

Optimising your system with Airgon delivers a substantial benefit, reducing the cost of heating and carbon emissions by between 10% and 20% per year, as well as preventing costly breakdowns.

As the water cools it absorbs additional air which is released later, building up until either the radiators stop working entirely or corrosion causes a breakdown.

How it works

Typically air dissolved in a heating system’s water gets trapped in radiators, creating a thermal barrier which prevents rooms from being heated. This trapped air also enables magnetic sludge to form, putting strain on pumps and other components. Airgon works by removing air entrained in the water and keeping the heating system inert. Optimising the efficiency, all while extending the heating system’s life.

Air is the enemy of your heating system. It corrodes and reduces efficiency which leads to significantly higher heating bills. Making sure the ‘air is gone’ is the key to an efficient (and cheaper) heating system. Airgon does this using gravity (and some clever science). No need to plug it in, no need to service it. Just add this to the heating system and watch your bills drop.

Frequently asked questions

Air dissolved in the water in your heating system is released when the water is heated. This plays havoc for many reasons which are explained on our website. Airgon removes the air and ensures the heating system works at optimum levels, which saves you money and prevents breakdowns.

Yes. The age of the boiler isn't important. Airgon will improve system efficiency and return the entire heating system back to optimum levels.

That depends on where you fit it! Usually it's in a cupboard, loft or somewhere out of sight.

Airgon contributes to energy efficiency but an EPC rating is an overall assessment of the entire building. No single energy saving measure reduces EPC.

With no moving parts or electronic components there's no reason to believe it will, but all Airgon devices are guaranteed or your money back!

Airgon doesn't remove the sludge present in your radiators, but it will stop it forming more. To remove the existing sludge we recommend a system flush.

Your Airgon should give you at least 25 years service.

Airgon is made from a tough ABS plastic and the larger Airgon-A54 body is made from Glass Filled Nylon

The air escapes from the one-way release valve into the atmosphere.

Yes. It's just air!

A plumber (who doesn't have to be gas safe approved to fit Airgon) will probably need between 20 and 30 minutes. You can fit it yourself if you're confident but please follow the instructions carefully.

No. Your current radiators are fine, but if your system has a lot of magnetite (sludge) build up we would recommend flushing it first.

About the same size as a bottle of wine .. maybe a little wider!! (We drank a few to make sure!)

Not directly but your overall heating system performance will improve and your boiler life will be extended.

Yes. Airgon works with all boiler types on a wet heating system.

No. Any plumber or skilled DIY'er can legally fit Airgon. We ask that you follow the instructions carefully.

No. Airgon will remove the trapped air from radiators over time, but it will help speed up savings if you do bleed your radiators. Once Airgon is fitted, you won't have to bleed them anymore.

You can fit it yourself for free, ask a neighbour, or use a plumber.

Airgon is warranted against failure for 10 years.

Savings start right away after installation. With a 17% savings as an average figure, we expect the average household to have recouped the cost of an Airgon in around six months.

Yes, you can buy it now or spread the payments .. see our Shop page for details.

Airgon will contribute to lowering home running costs but we can't claim it will make your house worth more!

Try it!! If Airgon doesn't save you at least 10% on your heating costs we'll give your money back.
